Tesoro Wrestling Coaches
Dedication. Expertise. Passion.

Girls Head Wrestling Coach
Tim Cornish
Tim Cornish founded the Tesoro High School Girls Wrestling program in 2021, starting with just one athlete—his oldest daughter, Sophia. Under his leadership, the program has grown into one of the most successful in Orange County. Originally from New York, Tim
wrestled at Fresno State from 1996 to 2000, where he became a multiple-time conference champion, recorded over 100 Division I victories, and placed in the top 12 at the NCAA National Championships his senior year. Outside the mat, Tim works as a Heavy Civil Engineer, managing large-scale infrastructure projects. His true passion, however, lies in youth wrestling and growing the sport for the next generation.

Boys Assistant Coach
Ruben Gonzales
Ruben has been a long-time staple of the Tesoro High School wrestling program. Originally from Fontana, he has been with the program for over eight years and has helped set the tempo for the team’s culture. He primarily works with the Freshmen and JV squads,
where he has become a trusted leader and mentor. Ruben is a strong advocate for team bonding and extra practice, often encouraging athletes to put in additional work outside of scheduled sessions. He is famously known for organizing team runs—especially his challenging hill workouts.

Girls Assistant Coach
Ron Maddux
Ron serves as the assistant coach for the Tesoro Girls Wrestling team and is a true steward of the sport. Known for his deep knowledge, Ron always has statistics, history, and insight ready about all things wrestling. A Southern California native, Ron wrestled in high school
at Laguna Hills under Coach Cliff Jarmie. He brings great passion and commitment to Tesoro Wrestling, always making himself available to support athletes, whether at practice or a weekend wrestling tournament.

Boys Assistant Coach
Cristian Morales
Cristian is entering his first year as an Assistant Coach at Tesoro. He is a Tesoro alumni and wrestled at the junior college level for Cerritos College. Cristian was on two of the most successful teams in Tesoro History, capturing league titles in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
In his Senior campaign, Cristian placed 2nd at conference and 4th at CIF. He qualified for Masters, led the team in pins (13), and ended the season with a record of 21-10. When Cristian is not on the mat, he enjoys training MMA, surfing, working out, and watching sports with friends and family.

Volunteer Coach and Mentor
Cliff Jarmie

coach in 2021-23. His teams won 29 consecutive league titles (1988-2016) and amassed a 504-88 won-loss record. His teams won 13 CIF Championships, were runner up 9 times and ended the season ranked #1 in OC nine times over his coaching career. Coach Jarmie was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2010 for Lifetime Service to Wrestling. He was also inducted into the California Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2013 as a Distinguished Member.
