In this blog post, we will cover material that is helpful for new parents and wrestlers.
Practice Attire and Equipment
Required at every practice: wrestling shoes, running shoes, and a water bottle
Tops:
Fitted T-shirt (Tesoro Wrestling gear or Tesoro colors — red, blue, white — strongly encouraged).
Each athlete will be issued one Tesoro T-shirt.
Bottoms:
Shorts (minimum 5-inch inseam) or
Sweatpants
Knee pads are strongly recommended.
Not allowed: tank tops, hoodies, or workout attire with zippers or buttons
Hygiene
Always wear clean clothes to practice and re-apply deodorant beforehand
Fingernails must be trimmed weekly
Shower immediately after practice thoroughly with soap.
Clean headgear, kneepads, and other equipment regularly
Report any questionable skin conditions to a coach immediately
PE Attendance
Wrestling is also a PE class and carries credit just like any other course. Grades are based on attendance and participation, not skill level.
Athletes must complete 10 hours of PE activity every two weeks
During the off-season: practices are held twice per week (2 hours each), plus 1 hour of weightlifting, running, or team activity = 5 hours/week
We will do 1 hour of weightlifting, running, or team activity on Tuesdays right after school at 3:30pm
The official wrestling season begins in November, when practices increase to 4–5 days per week
Support Our Program, Join a Committee!
As the season begins, we will be looking for parent involvement to help support the growth and success of Tesoro Wrestling. We invite you to consider joining one of our committees:
Booster Club Membership Committee
Fundraising Committee
Communications Committee
Home Dual Meet Committee
Merchandise Committee
Senior Night & Awards Committee
Athletic Clearance
If you haven't already, please complete your child's athletic clearance here https://www.tesorotitanathletics.com/athleticclearance. Please complete this ASAP as it is required before your son or daughter can participate in wrestling.
sportsYou
We are making the change from TeamSnap to sportsYou for our team's communication, calendar, etc. Both athletes AND parents should download the app and create sportsYou accounts. Please contact our coaching staff for the team access code.
